Yet schools face challenges with ethical issues that arise from students’ use of technology, such as cyberbullying, inappropriate sharing, and plagiarism. Digital citizenship is an essential 21st century skill in which students think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in a digital world. In this workshop, join Common Sense to learn about three elements necessary to create a positive culture around digital citizenship. First, learn how to teach students digital citizenship skills, covering eight key topics. You’ll hear ideas on how you can use a free Digital Citizenship curriculum. The curriculum is research-based, flexible, and aligned to Common Core. Second, learn how to engage parents around managing their children’s technology use and helping kids make smart choices, including how to host a successful parent night, sharing helpful tips and advice, parent communication ideas, and more. Finally, hear practical next steps to build the capacity of your staff to integrate digital citizenship instruction and community-based activities into your school’s teaching and learning framework. See how these three factors work together to build a positive school climate around digital citizenship.

Technology Coordinators Bus Tour

This event is geared towards those providing technical leadership/support to educational institutions.
