Biography
Dr. John Skretta is the administrator for Educational Service Unit Six headquartered in Milford Nebraska, which serves 16 school districts in its region across five counties in Southeast Nebraska. Dr. Skretta has been a K-12 school administrator for over two decades and in addition to his current role, has been a school district superintendent, assistant superintendent and high school principal. He began his career in education as a high school English and reading teacher. An experienced and articulate advocate, he has testified before the Nebraska legislature on numerous occasions around education-related legislation and was invited to provide testimony on LR63, the interim study on ESUs. Dr. Skretta has served as a member of the Midwest Dairy Health and Wellness Council, and is a member of the Nebraska School Boards Whole Child Project Board of Directors. He has been recognized as a national Healthy Schools Champion by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. He participated in the national conference call rollout of Let’s Move Active Schools with then-First Lady Michelle Obama. He was an invited speaker at the Rural Child Hunger summit sponsored by No Kid Hungry in 2019. A past president of the Nebraska Association of School Administrators and past Chair of the Nebraska Council of School Administrators, Dr. Skretta was selected by Nebraska colleagues as the 2018 state Superintendent of the Year. He is an adjunct professor at Doane University.
