Biography

Dr. Kristen Nugent is an Assistant Professor of Education at Peru State College in southeast Nebraska, where she teaches educational technology to preservice teachers and advanced technology courses to graduate students. Her career as an educator spans more than two decades and includes experience across elementary, middle, and high school classrooms; urban and rural school settings; and roles ranging from teaching French to preparing preservice teachers for their own classrooms. After 21 years in education, she continues to seek opportunities to innovate, engage learners, and foster creativity for all students.

The integration of technology into teaching and learning has been a central focus of Dr. Nugent’s professional work. She has led numerous workshops on effective technology use, including serving as a lead technology presenter for the STARTALK and Chinese Institute at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. While serving as Director of Secondary Education at Concordia University, Nebraska, she collaborated with faculty colleagues to develop a comprehensive technology plan aligned with ISTE Standards. Currently, Dr. Nugent is researching preservice teachers’ beliefs about artificial intelligence in education and will present her preliminary findings at upcoming academic conferences.
