WLAN Design Concepts is a vendor-neutral wireless network training workshop presented by two senior wireless network system engineers. This workshop will focus on design issues relating to coverage, signal to noise ratios, roaming, data throughput, power levels, channel interference, physical structure considerations, and more.

The workshop will also introduce the capabilities of the inexpensive wireless troubleshooting tool WiFi Explorer. A “homework” assignment will be given and a follow-up session will be offered where participants can get feedback on the results of their real-world exploration of their own institutions’ wireless networks.

The software required for this workshop is a macOS utility called Wi-Fi Explorer. A free, 7-day trial is available for download at https://www.intuitibits.com/products/wifi-explorer/

NOTE: We had previously stated that there was a version of Wi-Fi Explorer that would run on Windows. This was not accurate. We apologize for any confusion. There are other software packages that perform similar functions, that run on Windows, and that could be used to apply the concepts introduced in this workshop. WiFi Explorer, however, will be the specific utility introduced in these sessions.

*If possible, download the free trial on the day of the workshop.

A license with no time limit can be purchased for $19.99 from the Intuibits website or from the macOS App Store.
