Biography
Abby Fitzgerald is in her 13th year at Bennington Public Schools and is currently a K-8 High Ability Learning (HAL) teacher. She is a former 5th-grade teacher and has also coached volleyball for 11 years. Abby is finishing her second 3-year term on the NETA Board of Directors and is a 13-year member of the Bennington District Technology Committee. She strives to implement technology into her classroom in a variety of methods such as BloxelsEDU, Cubelets, Merge Cubes, flipped math, project-based learning, mystery hangouts, Amazing Race, 3D printing, BreakoutEDU, and coding. She has attended 12 NETA conferences, 4 ISTE conferences, and is extremely passionate about technology, teaching, and learning. She is a Google Certified Educator – Level 2, Co-Director for EdCamp Omaha, and a former leader of the #nebedchat community. She has many district responsibilities such as Middle School Robotics Coordinator and 5th Grade DC Trip Coordinator. NETA has played a huge role in shaping Abby’s teaching experience, and as a classroom specialist teacher, she feels she could bring a unique perspective to the NETA Board. Her enthusiasm, persistence, and drive are qualities that would help continue NETA’s superior influence and impact on education in the state of Nebraska.
