Biography

Biography: James Miller was a product developer at VTech Kids, where he created play experiences through educational toys like the InnoTab Learning Tablet and Kidizoom Smartwatch. He is the director of the tasked-based learning project for Seeds of Empowerment, a non-profit organization that is a spin-off of Stanford University’s School of Education. In this role James pilot-tested a mobile learning project at a form 1 school in Tanzania. James went on to receive his MA in computing in education from Columbia University and is currently Director of Innovative Teaching at Midland University. As Director of Innovative teaching, he helps faculty with active learning strategies, technology integration, and developing learning outcomes. He is also a doctoral student at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Education and is researching immersive virtual reality applications in education. James is passionate about all educational technology but especially virtual and augmented realities. He wants to serve on the NETA board so he can spread his passion, serve the community, and empower our students and teachers in a digital and connected age.
